Synthetic felt pennant like this became popular substitutes for the traditional wool felt pennants previously used as an inexpensive souvenir at popular tourist destinations that became popular at the turn of the century.
The synthetic pennants were easier to mass produce using modern photographic and offset printing instead of the traditional silk-screened or sewn pennants previously used.
