Flagpole Finial Base

Sub-collection: U.S. Army Ranger museum

Flagpole Finial Base, painted golden yellow

This flagpole finial base or variant ferrule is of an unknown type, which suggests foreign manufacture. It is designed to slip over an appox pole and then be secured by tightening a square head machine screw. On the top is another hole to accept on ornament.

Finial bases of this type are not used by the U.S. Military or Naval forces. And, since it was in a lot of odds and ends from the U.S. Army Ranger Museum; it is highly likely that this was a G.I. bring back, from either the European or Pacific Theatres, that has become separated from its ornament.
