In the late 1970s and early 1980s Major League Baseball centralized many of the products developed for sale to the fans and flags were among them. Previously they were licensed to suppliers to each local team, generally granting exclusivity within a certain mile radius. Since that time the entire roster of teams has generally been licensed to a single vendor or manufacturer.
These flags, often called stick or spirit flags, are mass produced offshore out of a no fray polyester using a standard template for the designs which is composed of the team colors forming a background with the appropriate accent stripes top and bottom with the team logo in the center of the field.
Most of these are now made offshore.
