This firearm is a Sharps & Hankins Patent breech loading, self contained (.52 Sharps bottleneck rimfire0 cartridge, single shot, calvary carbine. U.S. martial Civil War contract carbine purchased for the 11th New York Cavalry (Scott's 900"); 34" overall with a 19" long forward sliding barrel activated by levering the trigger guard; left side of frame stamped; "SHARPS PATENT / 1859"; right side of framestamped; "Sharpes & Hankins / Philada"; serial number "1842"; stamped on upper frame tang and interior of lever activation mechanism; no inspection marks; rear sights missing; brass butt plate; overall slightly pitted with blued surface turning brown; sling ring on left side of frame. Condition; GOOD - stock cracked but glued.

CONDITION: Good. front sight replaced. Metal dark and pitted. Rear sight missing. Stock with heavy wear. Bore is dark. \\'ibon Collection/David Gamble \\'ibon Family recollection is that this was captured by a Confederate soldier.
