Catalog Description
Really cool old 52 by 66 inch flaf from a recently closed DAV post in South Bend, Indiana. "White Eagle chapter No. 139...South bend, Indiana...Disabled American Veterans". Has terrific embroidered patch of 17 inches in middle of flag. SAME TERRIFIC GRAPHICS ON BOTH SIDES! Felt letters are sewn on as well. Not sure what flag is made of, kinda looks like cotton. Nice gold fringe on all sides. Has label made by "Pettibone Bros. Mfg. Co. Military and Society Goods, Cincinnati, O." I don't know age of this flag but I know most Pettibone items I researched were made in late 1800's. Soldiers in the emblem look like WWI. I would say this is from very early 1900's. Has sleeve on edge so it can be slid over a flagpole but I think would be great hanging on a wall. Very nice condition, no rips, soiling, insect damage or wear. Really a beautiful flag!
