Sub-collection: Flag Related Printed Materials- "You're a Grand Old Flag" -1906 sheet music - After a public outcry, especially from Civil War veterans, the author of the musical "You're a Grand Old Rag", George M. Cohan, attempted to rearrange the lyrics to retain the word "rag" and still appease his critics. However, his musical machinations, it did not appease the general public and ultimately he relented and changed the title song to, "You're a Grand Old Flag."
