International Code of Signals V

Sub-collection: Signal Flags

International Code of Signals V
Spoken VICTOR
Meaning I require assistance ( not distress).

Since 1870 the ICS or International Code of Signals has been used by merchant vessels and warships and an international language by mariners. In 1965, management of the ICS was taken over by the United Nations' International Maritime Organization. Each major seafaring country still publishes the ICS for the use of its mariners. In the US Navy it is Hydrographic Office publication #102.

Bought at Militaria Show in San Jose in 1999. Has been pieced together (6 pieces on white, 3 on red).
