United States 50 star flag. Official Since 4 July 1960.
Flag was acquired at LAke Louise 4 July 1998.
Table flags became popular during the 20th century and have used in a variety of applications including formal use at tables to identify participants, as well as souvenir, novelty and parade use. Besides current international flags, and internal political subdivisions the reproduction of note-worthy historical flags has also become popular, especially at museums and historic sites.
Often displayed in multiple holed stands they are also popular in classrooms and offices. Originally made of silk, table flags are generically referred to as silks, miniatures, 4x6s. No longer made of silk modern table flags are mostly made from rayon or polyester, natural fibers that mimic the look and feel of silk.
Originally mounted on to wooden dowels, they are now almost exclusively mounted on plastic staffs.
