U.S. 49 star flag, Alaska joins the union, 1949.

This 49 star flag, honoring the statehood of Alaska, was flown at Ft. McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 4,1959.

Ft. McHenry is the first place in the USA where the new flag with the new star is first flown officially admitting the new state to the Union.
