This is a very rare and important flag.
United States 44 star flag with very unusual vertically staggered starfield. This flag has an unusual starfield, all of the stars are oriented towards the hoist.
Flag came from a Pennsylvania estate sale, with image of probable owner, taken in the 1880-1890 period, wearing a cavalry offcers uniform.
