U.S. 45 Star Flag - Utah's Statehood.

Sub-collection: U.S. 45 Star Flags

U.S. 45 Star Flag representing Utah's admission to the Union.
The 45-Star Flag: This Flag became the Official United States Flag on July 4th, 1896. A star was added for the admission of Utah on January 4th, 1896, and was to last for 12 years. The Presidents to serve under this flag were Grover Cleveland (1893-1897), William McKinley (1897-1901),and Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909).

Early Zaricor collection piece. Text on tag stitched to hoist: "G ERSKINE 6141 McPHERSON" Acquired in St. Louis or in early period after arrival in California in 1972 with wife Louise Veninga.

This would have been in the first 15 flags collected. I remember that the address 6141 McPherson struck me at the time as a St. Louis address though the city and state is not shown. Ben Zaricor 3/29/09
