Year of the Monkey Peking Opera Flag holding a peach.
This handmade, silk Chinese triangular Year of the monkey flag was acquired in 1980 by Ben & Louise Zaricor in a Beijing antique shop represented as as Qing Dynasty "Peking Opera flag" and dated to the late 19th century/Early 20th Century.
The peach the monkey holds symbolizes long life for a person who is having a birthday.
The Chinese Zodiac is a 12-year "annual calendar" that relates each year to an animal. Each representative creature's positive and negative attributes are then used to interpret action, prophesize and identify character traits.
