National Flag from the People's Republic of China.
This silk flag is the national flag of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The national flag of the PRC was adopted in 1949. The communist revolution is represented by the red background, the large, golden-yellow, five point star represents the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), while the smaller stars signify the four classes of the revolution as defined by Mao Zedong. These classes (a misconstruing of Marx-Engels' preoccupation with class struggle) were comprised of "the peasants, workers, the urban petite bourgeoisie, and the national bourgeoisie (owners of large-scale businesses and industrial facilities who remained in China and aided the CCP with material during their struggle).
This flag was acquired in 1976 on Mr. Ben Zaricor's first visit to China. It is one of the early flags of the Zaricor Collection. ZFC1267 was acquired at the same time.
