San Francisco: Butterfield & Butterfield, 1995. This is the sale catalog for the auction held at Butterfield & Butterfield in San Francisco on April 4, 1995. The sale consisted mainly of items related to Colonel George Custer that were acquired by two individuals who served with Custer on the Sioux Expedition of 1876. These men were General Winfield Scott Edgerly and Corporal William O. Taylor. Also offered were a number of items from the Custer family, including ZFC0489 and ZFC0490.
Foreword by James S. Hutchins, Historian Emeritus, National Museum of American History, who observes that this is "beyond question the finest public offering ever of artifacts relating to Custer himself, his last fight and associated figures and events."
The sale also featured a historic pair of field revolvers once owned by Jesse James. There is a brief introductory essay. There were 335 lots in the sale.
