Japan // Armed Forces / Farewell and victory sake cup & box
Between 1894-1945 sake cups were commissioned by naval troops, pilots, tank crews, supply crews, infantrymen, cavalrymen, telegraph and railroad engineers with an innumerable variation of colors and designs. They helped recall the traditions and romance of the Samurai warriors; each cup is a mini time capsule with the owners name and regiments inscribed and were used by soldiers and sailors to drink a victory toast, or farewell toast.
This box is an outstanding example of a presentation box.
