He commanded US Navy Argus Unit 21 in the Pacific during WWII, an elite amphibious combat team, was able to land with Marines and rapidly deploy radar and radio communications equipment. Argus 21 landed on Kwajalein, were operational in less than a day, even before the island was clear.
