62. Iraq - Operation Iraqi Freedom

Operation Iraqi Freedom was the name for the coalition to liberate Iraq in 2003. After the overthrow of Ba'ath Party government and suppression of Saddam Hussienâ??s forces the U.S. reestablished an embassy compound in Baghdad, Iraq.

This Grouping contains an entire collection of flags from that compound - the U.S. flag as well as a large assortment of unofficial military themed flags used to decorate the barracks and day rooms of the U.S. soldiers.?  Of special interest is an â??Enjoy Baghdadâ? flag which spoofs the traditional â?Enjoy Coca-Colaâ? logo because it is signed by many of the soldiers and NCOs from the embassy.

The Grouping closes with a flag from the Patriot Guard, a group of veterans and like minded individuals who enjoy riding motorcycles and shield a mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor during military funerals for fallen servicemen.
